I’m excited for quite a few Korean dramas starting in March! Let’s have a look at this month’s premieres. Let me know if anything piques your interest!
Siren’s Kiss

Premiere Date: March 2
Network: tvN
Stars: Park Min Young (Confidence Queen), Wi Ha Joon (The Midnight Romance In Hagwon), Kim Jung Hyun (Mr. Queen)
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Thriller, Mystery, Romance
Synopsis: A man investigates an insurance fraud case involving people who all died after falling in love with an irresistibly captivating woman.
Thoughts: It sounds intriguing and I like the lead trio of actors. It also seems like a different kind of role and genre for Park Min Young.
Boyfriend On Demand

Premiere Date: March 6
Network: Netflix
Stars: Ji Soo (Kpop group BLACKPINK; Snowdrop) , Seo In Guk (Café Minamdang)
Number Of Episodes: 10
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Comedy
Synopsis: An overworked webtoon producer subscribes to a virtual dating simulation service to experience the dates of her dreams.
Thoughts: Seo In Guk! Yay! I will always give a try to his dramas, even though I haven’t liked some of his last few shows. I’m not really a fan of this synopsis but I’m excited to see him here and how the romance would begin between the leads.
Still Shining

Premiere Date: March 6
Network: JTBC
Stars: Jin Young (Our Unwritten Seoul), Kim Min Joo (Undercover High School),
Shin Jae Ha (Evilive), Park Se Hyun (Your Honor)
Number Of Episodes: 10
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: After falling in love as teens, two young adults drift apart — only to reunite 10 years later and confront their heartbreak, growth and new challenges.
Thoughts: The ‘exes to lovers’ trope has been done so many times already. But I’m still gonna watch this as I like the moody, melo vibe of this one.
Phantom Lawyer

Premiere Date: March 13
Network: SBS
Stars: Yoo Yeon Seok (When The Phone Rings), Esom (Taxi Driver), Kim Kyung Nam (Connection)
Number Of Episodes: 16
Genre: Fantasy, Mystery, Law
Synopsis: It follows a lawyer who has the ability to see spirits and a top-tier attorney as they work together to settle the unfinished business of their most unusual clients—ghosts—using the legal system.
Thoughts: Ghost seers + investigative episodic plot has been done numerous times in dramaland. I do enjoy the lead actors’ acting but the plot does not make me excited for this one.
Mad Concrete Dreams

Premiere Date: March 14
Network: tvN
Stars: Ha Jung Woo (Narco-Saints), Im Soo Jung (Search: WWW), Krystal Jung (Crazy Love), Kim Joon Han (Good Partner), Shim Eun Kyung (Naeil’s Cantabile)
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Thriller, Crime
Synopsis: A man drowning in debt stages a fake kidnapping in order to protect his family and property, but the carefully crafted plan quickly unravels, spiraling into chaos beyond his control.
Thoughts: Look at that top notch cast! And Ha Jung Woo returning to dramaland after 19 years! He did do Narco-Saints but that was a web series. Plus, the plot seems to have the potential to be a gripping thriller.
Doctor Shin

Premiere Date: March 14
Network: TV Chosun
Stars: Baek Seo Ra, Jung E Chan
Number Of Episodes: 16
Genre: Medical, Thriller, Fantasy
Synopsis: It is about a brilliant doctor who pushes medicine beyond limits and a woman whose brain is suddenly damaged overnight, causing her to gradually lose her soul.
Thoughts: Not interested in this drama.
Climax

Premiere Date: March 16
Network: ENA
Stars: Joo Ji Hoon (The Trauma Code: Heroes On Call), Ha Ji Won (Curtain Call), Oh Jung Se (Tempest), Cha Joo Young (The Queen Who Crowns), Nana (Mask Girl)
Number Of Episodes: 10
Genre: Thriller, Mystery, Drama
Synopsis: A couple (a prosecutor and a former A-list actress) driven by boundless ambition will stop at nothing – including betraying each other – to reach the pinnacle of success.
Thoughts: I’m looking forward to this one because of the cast, especially the leads who remind me of classic 2000s Kdramas that started my love for Korean dramas. I’m hoping for a ‘marriage of convenience’ trope too but not really sure if this one would have it.
Cabbage Your Life

Premiere Date: March 26
Network: KBS
Stars: Park Sung Woong (Unlock My Boss), Lee Soo Kyung (Dog Knows Everything)
Number Of Episodes: 12
Genre: Comedy, Family
Synopsis: A manager at a large corporation in Seoul moves to a village with his wife and three sons when he gets suddenly transferred there. As they have no rural experience, they struggle to find their way back to Seoul.
Thoughts: The storyline feels original and new, and it also seems like it could be genuinely funny.
