I didn’t plan back to back Byun Yo Han posts but here we are! The actor had drama Uncle Samsik premiere on May 15 and there was also the release of his movie Following — also on May 15! I’ve always been a fan of simple, slice-of-life stories and the upcoming Korean movie Pavane sounds like a new entry to such projects. The film centers around a department store and it’s based on 2009 novel Jookeun Wangnyeoreul Wihan Pavane by Park Min Kyu. It has a top-notch cast that includes Go Ah Sung (Life On Mars), Byun Yo Han (Misaeng) and Moon Sang Min (Wedding Impossible). Continue reading →

The new TVING rom-com Dreaming Of A Freaking Fairytale (previously going by Dreaming of Cinde Fxxxing Rella!) is bringing a twist to the classic Korean drama tale of poor woman-rich man love story. Usually the heroine is innocent and righteous but in this drama, the main character wants to become a Cinderella after suffering through harsh realities of life — by getting married to a rich man. I’m sure she’ll eventually fall in love for real and undergo growth along the way, but I like this fresh take on the standard Cinderella trope. Continue reading →
