REVIEW: The King: Eternal Monarch (2020)

The King: Eternal Monarch is a classic case where the combination of hottest stars, magnificent sets, production quality, intriguing premise and top writer doesn’t result in a satisfying ride. One of the most anticipated dramas of the year, it fails big time in terms of writing and execution. Of course, there are some good bits and pieces but that doesn’t outweigh the numerous shortcomings.

First Impressions for ‘The King: Eternal Monarch’

The King: Eternal Monarch, the highly anticipated drama with top writer Kim Eun Sook at the helm and hot stars like Lee Min Ho, Kim Go Eun and Woo Do Hwan, has finally premiered and has aired 4 episodes, and is well in its third week. It’s airing on SBS as well as Netflix on Fridays and Saturdays. I have mixed feelings about it, with more issues than praise. Continue reading

Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun confirmed for top writer Kim Eun Sook’s next drama ‘The King: Eternal Ruler’

First things first — Yay! Lee Min Ho has confirmed his first comeback project, a TV drama, after completing his military service. I’m not too happy about the show itself though. It’s by top writer Kim Eun Sook, and I love the humour in her shows Goblin and Secret Garden. But this is a reunion after the actor and writer did Heirs back in 2013, which despite enjoying and liking a lot when I was watching it, I can agree that it was not a very good drama.
