I laughed out loud after reading the winners of 2013 MBC Drama Awards. Not that I expect anything substantial coming out of these channel award events as with past experiences, I have understood that they are all about popularity and ratings. But still, even when I kept that in mind, some of the winners left me flabbergasted and some of the actors or dramas that were left out made me realise how meaningless these awards can be. I have this proclivity to go for dramas (I think most of us have) that star my favorite actors. That and the fantasy premise led me to start historical Gu Family Book, a genre (sageuk) that is not my preference when it comes to kdramas.
