It looks like the topic I have written the most about in my casting news, since I started my blog, is the historical genre. There seems to be no end to the reports related to sageuks as this year has seen so many of them, which includes three ongoing right now. Among them, I’m inclined towards watching the fantasy (and Lee Seung Gi is the major factor of course) Gu Family Book and the thriller Mandate Of Heaven (as it’s garnering huge praise and I’m an avid fan of the genre.) I’m on the fence about Jang Ok Jung, Live For Love: the reason to it is that my initial attraction towards it, Jae Hee, has still not appeared after 8 episodes and the drama seems like possibly it will have a sad ending. It’s confirmed that Moon Geun Young will indeed be returning to the historical role through the upcoming sageuk Goddess of Fire Jung-yi. The male lead for the show has also been cast in the form of Lee Sang Yoon, who was last seen in the rating king My Daughter Seo Young. Moon Geun Young did another sageuk as the cross dressing girl in Painter Of The Wind, and earned lots of accolades for her performance. Continue reading →

I first saw Moon Geun Young in My Little Bride, my first ever venture into Korean entertainment. I loved that film (still love it to pieces) and liked her a lot. She was cute and carried emotional scenes pretty well. Later, when I started watching dramas, a far better thing than the Korean movies, I wasn’t interested in seeing any of her dramas as they didn’t attract me because of their poor reviews.
