I’m happy with this news! Sung Joon has joined Hyun Bin‘s comeback drama Jekyll And Me and now I have both the main and second leads as actors I really like. Honestly speaking, I have seen Sung Joon in only a few episodes of Gu Family Book that I managed to complete (and that too in that hilarious hairdo!) but still he looks so good and intense in all the things (pictures, teasers, etc) I’ve seen him in. I think this has become a norm now that there are some actors who get cast as main hero in cable dramas (for him, it was I Need Romance 3 for tvN) and then, signed on as second leads for main three networks. Anyway, I’m just smiling that I’m going to watch these two actors together for at least 8 weeks straight.
Jekyll And Me stars Hyun Bin as a chaebol who runs a theme park called Wonderland. I have only seen one drama till date which had this as a set-up, which was My Love Patzzi. It is indeed something fresh for dramas. He wants to get rid of the circus troupe which is not bringing in any profits. Han Ji Min plays the leader of this troupe who goes against the hero to save her circus. And now the main concept of the drama — the multiple personality disorder that our hero has where he is soft hearted as well as cold fish on the other hand. These three (or…two) will form the central love triangle. Sung Joon is playing a professional hypnotist with a gentle and humorous personality. He was last seen in the role of a doctor in Discovery Of Romance as well. Well, if you have a hero with mental disorders, it’s likely that one of the main characters has to be his doctor. I’m just glad that it’s not our heroine, which would have made the OTP dynamics too stale. Seo Ye Ji (last seen in Records of a Night Watchman) is in talks to play another psychiatrist and the requisite first love of our hero. I just hope she is not evil!
Jekyll And Me is definitely the most anticipated drama of 2015 for me. It will air from January on SBS following Pinocchio. The behind-the-camera team consists of PD of 49 Days and The Chaser and the writer of Cheongdamdong Alice.
He’s on a drama spree lately! INR3, DoR and now this one! Haven’t made my 2015 dramind yet, but i’ll keep an eye on Jeckyll and Me!
I’m mainly excited for Hyun Bin’s return to dramaland 🙂
I wish Sung joon would get more leading roles…but I’m happy he is dong back to back so many dramas!
