Another drama set in the legal world? Sigh. I hope it has some fresh flavour to it as we have been seeing a deluge of so many legal dramas this year — One Dollar Lawyer, Blind, May I Please The Court, The Law Cafe and these are just from this month. The number would increase a lot more if I count the previous months.
Anyway, The Empire boasts a strong cast — Kim Sun Ah (My Name is Kim Sam Soon), Ahn Jae Wook (Wish Upon A Star) and Lee Mi Sook (You’re The Best Lee Soon Shin). The plot sounds like Penthouse and SKY Castle, only this time it revolves around the scandalous lives of the people from the legal field. Kim Sun Ah plays the Head of the Special Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office — she is someone whose prestigious family of lawyers gets the credit for her accomplishments. Her husband is played by Ahn Jae Wook, who is a law school professor. He struggled in his growing years but now he is a renowned and successful person.
The Empire started today on JTBC — the network is another good point about the drama as it is usually known for quality projects. It is helmed by the director of dramas like My Daughter Seo Young and Matrimonial Chaos. The show is also going by the title The Empire Of Law.
