I had a busy drama week for a change! 😀 The reason being the marathon of popular and acclaimed period drama The Red Sleeve. And I’m watching some ongoing shows as well. So here is a brief summary of my drama watching:
Love Next Door (2024)
Watched: 13 Episodes
This show. Sigh. It had so much potential — the lovely main leads, adorable second leads and my favorite trope of ‘friends to lovers’. It was going fine at the start but I could feel that something was missing. Even in scenes and characters that I was enjoying, the show was never gripping. And female lead’s mother is one of the most annoying characters ever! What really made Love Next Door lose momentum was the misplaced arc of her ex and her illness. It was so sudden in the midst of scenes of her starting to realise her feelings for Seung Hyo. Which led to drop of that important track and spending multiple episodes on sadness and seriousness, not to mention on Seok Ryu’s ex and their relationship. Hence, I could not feel my previous excitement even after everything becomes fine. The writing also seems all over the place at times. Anyway, only 3 episodes are left and I hope there is a happy ending for all characters!
The Red Sleeve (2021)
Watched: 17 Episodes
The drama that brought back the excitement to watch a love story and an OTP, making me giddy and smile from ear to ear. I don’t know why I waited so long to watch it as it received so much praise and stars two of my favorite actors, Junho and Lee Se Young. The drama is intense and captivating. It is also gorgeously shot. It made me feel butterflies and it made me cry. What an amazing show with an amazing cast ensemble!
No Gain No Love (2024)
Watched: 0.5 Episode
I only watched few minutes of this show. I’m planning to continue. Marriage of convenience has always been a theme that I love and the drama has gotten good reviews. Though I’m not a fan of cartoonish over-the-top visuals.
Next on my plan:
My Sweet Mobster
Black Out
The Judge from Hell
Good Partner
What Comes After Love
