Chae Jung Ahn, Jo Hyun Jae, joo won, Kdrama, Kim Tae Hee, Yong-Pal
The last time I wrote about upcoming SBS medical melodrama Young-pal, I mentioned that the main attraction for me is the PD who helmed God’s Gift – 14 Days. Sigh. It was announced a few days back that there is a director switch and now the drama will be directed by the PD of Modern Farmer and Goddess Of Marriage. Anyway, I haven’t seen his works so I have no opinion on that but I will still check out the show if it takes a thriller tone rather than hardcore melodrama. Joo Won, Kim Tae Hee and Chae Jung Ahn were already confirmed and now more actors have been added to the cast list. Joo Won stars as titular doctor who starts making house calls to rich patients in order to earn extra money that he needs for his sister’s treatment. Kim Tae Hee plays a rich woman who lies in coma in a hospital bed. Jo Hyun Jae (Ad Genius Lee Tae Baek, 49 Days) will play her half-brother and the one who ordered to keep her in this VIP floor of the hospital. Chae Jung Ahn plays his wife while Jung Woong In (I Hear Your Voice) stars as a surgeon who is in charge of our heroine’s case and responsible for putting her in her coma state. So we have two villains in total. I have already seen how awesome Jung Woong In is in his bad guy roles (he is equally wonderful in comedy and dramatic ones too) but this is the first time when Jo Hyun Jae plays a villain — his character bored me in Ad Genius Lee Tae Baek but I’m looking forward to his take on this role. Yong-pal is penned by the writer of thriller Reset and plans to start its broadcast from August after Mask wraps up on SBS. The script reading was held a few days back. Check out the pics.
Nothing in this spells ‘watch me!’, LOL!
I wasn’t impressed by Reset, nor have I seen any of the new directors works, plus the cast does nothing for me. Combine that with no interest in the plot and you’ve got a drama that I doubt I’ll even check out. 🙂
Hahaha….you have put everything perfectly for ‘why-not-to-watch-this-show’ 😉
Even I’m not much interested…I’m going to give it a try only if it’s going to be a thriller…otherwise, it’s a no-no for me 🙂
I don’t think this one is doing anything for me. I did watch Goddess of Marriage. It is one of those shows that make you cringe at the absurdities of the plot. The evil mother in law trope was just over the top. Those were the days when I hardly ever dropped anything 🙂 So one strike against the new PD switch. And I am not a big Kim Tae Hee fan either. She is too pretty and it gets distracting…at least the ones I’ve seen her in, her “prettiness” seems to outshine her performance. No, I didn’t see IRIS. Oh well..there are so many other choices to keep me busy for the rest of summer!
I can imagine how cringe-worthy the experience must have been with Goddess Of Marriage. I just hate the typical weekend evil mother-in-law trope! Good that you learned to drop dramas…hahaha 😉
I haven’t seen any Kim Tae Hee drama to date except a few eps of Love Story In Harvard and that was long ago…I do want to watch My princess though.
I’m only looking forward to this show to see what tone it will take….If it’s a thriller, that can make things interesting.
