I’m deliriously happy in relation to upcoming romantic comedy drama Suspicious Partner as it seems to have everything I want in my K-drama. It stars Ji Chang Wook in a romcom! His first since a long time as his last few shows/movies have been all action ones (Healer, The K2, Fabricated City) even though they did have romantic sprinklings. Plus, the leading lady is Nam Ji Hyun, who was a delight in Shopping King Louis. And the plot also looks perfect for an opposites attract romance. Last but not least, the writer penned I Remember You (she also wrote Protect The Boss — another great comedy), a thriller that awesomely mixed emotions in it and was complex and deep.
Ji Chang Wook plays a prickly prosecutor while Nam Ji Hyun takes up the role of a cheerful intern in the legal department. Of course, when they meet, they will lock horns only to lock lips by the end of the show. Heh. Also starring is Choi Tae Joon (Missing 9) as our hero’s family friend and Kpop idol Nara (of group Hello Venus) stars as his ex-girlfriend. Yeah, everything sounds as if done thousands of time but this whole cast and the main couple makes it refreshing. The additional detail about an amnesiac serial killer also makes things interesting.
I also love that Nam Ji Hyun is having a totally different look as compared to her previous roles. One additional trivia, Suspicious Partner actually reunites Ji Chang Wook and Nam Ji Hyun as they both worked together in period drama Warrior Baek Dong Soo but he was the hero and she played child counterpart to Shin Hyun Bin.
Suspicious Partner is helmed by the PD who co-directed Legend Of The Blue Sea. It will start airing tomorrow on SBS as the new Wednesday-Thursday show and will compete with another new drama, sageuk Ruler–Master of the Mask and already on top sleuth-comedy Mystery Queen.
I haven’t had much luck with romcoms this year so far but this one does look promising. We’ll see, I guess. ;D
I’m just so excited for this that I’m ready to ignore its flaws…hehe…maybe 😉
When you are talking about this year…it suddenly reminds me that almost half of 2017 has passed and I have such a looong list of shows to complete!
No luck this time around either. I didn’t like it a all. Sigh. There was just something about it that rubbed me totally the wrong way. Besides I’m one of those whom Ji Chang Wook does nothing as an actor.
Isn’t is amazing how fast the time goes by! I can’t keep up. 🙂
I won’t call myself a fan but I did like him in Healer (but of course, not as much as everyone around me did — the show and the actor)
I have yet to see this…keeping my expectations low then 🙂
Well, plenty of people seem to have liked it all right, so… When it comes to romcoms, I’m an anomaly. 😀
I am wishing and hoping that this drama is as good as the hype! Love Ji Chang Wook
Same here! I’m hoping for it to be GOOD! 🙂
