Year In Review: 2024 Korean Dramas

I watched more Korean dramas in 2024 than I did in the past few years. It was a mix bag for me as I loved some wholeheartedly, liked some but not completely and some shows disappointed towards the end (as always LOL). I also dropped some shows, in some cases within 5 minutes (*sigh*). Yoona, Lee Chae Min and Kang Han Na confirmed for tvN drama ‘The Tyrant’s Chef’

The Tyrant’s Chef is an upcoming tvN drama that previously starred Park Sung Hoon (Squid Game 2) in the lead role but now the role will be played by Lee Chae Min (Hierarchy) after the former left the drama due to a recent controversy. A strange choice for replacement as the two actors are so different in terms of age and experience. Anyway, the drama is a time travel fantasy sageuk and is based on a web novel. Continue reading

REVIEW: Love Next Door (2024)

Love Next Door had all the ingredients of a perfect rom-com drama — popular and talented lead actors, friends-to-lovers trope, two sets of OTP, a slice-of-life vibe, the writer of Hometown Cha Cha Cha. Alas, the drama fails to give us a delicious dish. It does have some delightful moments but the show hooks us only in parts. Continue reading

Romance drama ‘Motel California’ premieres today with Lee Se Young and Na In Woo

I’m keen to check out the new MBC drama Motel California despite its overdone premise of ‘exes to lovers’. The reason — it stars charming Lee Se Young and I’m liking the general vibe. The drama is based on a 2019 novel Home, Bitter Home by writer Shim Yun Seo. The screen adaptation is penned by the screenwriter of dramas 365: Repeat The Year (2020) and Swallow The Sun (2009).
