This is one of those Korean drama news that makes me feel like the cat that got the cream. One of my favorite actresses, Jung So Min (Alchemy Of Souls) and Jung Hae In (Snowdrop), an actor I really like, have confirmed to star together in a romantic comedy drama. The title is Mom’s Friend’s Son and the plot sounds very slice-of-life and simple — also my favorite kind of rom-coms. It is penned by the writer of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha — a show I really admired. The long journey of Alchemy Of Souls finally completed this month. It began in June last year and was divided into two parts. Part 2 was marked with lots of talks on change of the female lead but I’m glad the discussions shifted to plot once the second instalment started. Overall, Alchemy Of Souls Part 2 encompasses the good elements of Part 1 and delivers a satisfying story and conclusion. But it never achieved the magic of Part 1. The second part also goes by the moniker Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow.

Alchemy Of Souls stole everyone’s heart when it aired a few months back. But viewers were divided when it was revealed that the main female lead, Jung So Min, won’t be appearing in the second installment of the fantasy sageuk. As for me, I was initially sad to hear the news but as we reached the conclusion of Part 1, it made sense to me as to why the female lead would change to Go Yoon Jung. It is a fantasy drama that’s set in the historical era and it efficiently tells its compelling story.
