The Midnight Romance In Hagwon is a unique experience as it’s filled with moments and conversations that are unique, at times realistic and have a natural vibe. It has a subtle, indie-like feel that I really dig. It has the distinct style of PD Ahn Pan Suk (who has directed shows like Something In The Rain, One Spring Night and Secret Love Affair), with the show soaked in muted colors and quiet, soothing air. It does have its flaws but the pluses outweigh the minus points. Continue reading →

I’m super excited for upcoming Netflix Kdrama Can This Love Be Translated! There are quite a few reasons for that: it stars two of my favorite actors, Kim Seon Ho (Hometown Cha Cha Cha) and Go Youn Jung (Moving), it’s written by the Hong Sisters (Delightful Girl Choon Hyang, You’re Beautiful, The Greatest Love) and it’s a contemporary rom-com. Marry My Husband is a truly entertaining show. There is never a dull moment — but it also becomes tiring towards the tail end because of it. Although — kudos for juxtaposing over-the-top scenarios with quiet, introspective moments. Continue reading →

MBC is bringing a rom-com titled Motel California and it stars one of my favorites Lee Se Young (The Story Of Park’s Marriage Contract) opposite Na In Woo, who I really liked in Marry My Husband. The show is set in a rural area and is based on a 2019 novel Home, Bitter Home. I would have been super excited for this drama but the plot sounds so similar to shows like Hometown Cha Cha Cha and Welcome To Samdal-ri. Continue reading →

The Midnight Romance In Hagwon has completed more than half of its journey. I’m liking it a lot for its low-key, subdued vibe with sometimes unique, sometimes realistic and natural moments and conversations. I’m always giddy for the main couple and I love the way it’s written. It surely reminds me of the PD’s previous shows’ pairings in terms of style. Continue reading →
