I’m super excited for new SBS drama Our Beloved Summer as it sounds really cute and stars two of the actors I love — Choi Woo Shik and Kim Da Mi. The show looks breezy, youthful and adorable with the leads playing high school sweethearts who broke up years ago. A documentary that they were featured on in high school gets suddenly popular and so they have to come together again. Obviously, feelings resurface!
Choi Woo Shik is returning to small screen after 4 years as his last drama was The Package. His last main lead role in a drama was in 2015’s gem Ho Goo’s Love. He also starred in the Oscar Award winner movie Parasite in 2019. Kim Da Mi stole everyone’s heart with her amazing performance in last year’s Itaewon Class. Both the actors have previously worked together in horror movie The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion (2018).
Choi Woo Shik plays a reclusive illustrator who hides his personal life and Kim Da Mi plays a woman who had lots of aspirations in high school, received good grades and now works at a firm with lots of drive for success. Kim Sung Cheol (Do You Like Brahms?) stars as a PD who re-films the aforementioned documentary. Noh Jung Ui (18 Again) rounds out the cast as a top idol who falls for Choi Woo Shik’s character. Lee Joon Hyuk (Stranger) has a guest appearance in the show.
Our Beloved Summer started this week in the slot of Mondays and Tuesdays on SBS and Netflix.
