It was love at first sight for me when it comes to Yeon Woo Jin, from the moment I saw him for the first time in that lovely, sunny opening track of Marriage Not Dating and since then, I always get excited to see him in something new. His follow-up show Divorce Lawyer In love just went under the radar and I couldn’t find time to start it but I’m bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, all set to watch his newest drama Introverted Boss. It looks funny and encompasses one of my favourite tropes — workplace and romance-comedy.

OCN is a network known for giving us dark and gritty thrillers one after the other — Bad Guys, Vampire Prosecutor, Special Affairs Team TEN, Neighborhood Hero etc — and now it’s bringing a new show to add in this list. The show is titled Voice and stars Jang Hyuk and Lee Ha Na in the lead roles. I’m really happy to see Jang Hyuk in this drama as this will be new for me to see him in a modern, serious thriller after watching him in Continue reading →

New year, new crop of dramas! MBC is starting off its Wednesday-Thursday slot with mystery thriller Missing 9, which bases the plot on survivors of a plane crash on a missing island. This story has been told a lot of times through the medium of novels, TV shows and movies, but never gets old. I instantly get interested for such stories and hence, I’m totally looking forward to this show. It is giving me And Then There Were None (one of my favourite novels!) and Lost vibes. I hope it doesn’t sound like a broken record when I say I’m not a sageuk fan. But I do give them a try once in a while if they garner my attention for one reason or the other. Usually it’s the fusion sageuk aka historical drama with modern elements that makes me interested. I recently watched Moonlight Drawn By Clouds and looks like I’m going to add one more in my micro-list — Hwarang: The Beginning, the new drama for KBS. It is fully pre-produced and it’s giving a youthful, light vibe so far. Continue reading →

Oooh…this one looks dark and bleak! Solomon’s Perjury is the new Friday-Saturday drama for JTBC, premiering this week and it is based on a bestselling Japanese novel. It tells the story about a school where a student’s body is found on a wintry Christmas morning. Police claims it’s suicide but one of the students receives an anonymous letter which states that it is actually a murder. When no one provides any answers, the students decide to take the matter in their hands and conduct an independent trial. Kim Hyun Soo (the actress who played young Chun Song Yi in You From Another Star) plays a model student while Jo Jae Hyun (Punch) plays school’s legal counsel. Continue reading →
