Three women in their 30s and spotlight on their friendship, love and life in general. Sounds familiar? Dramaland has its fair share of shows centred around this premise. Personally, I love these kind of stories even if they have been done a lot of times and are fairly predictable with stereotypical characters. 20th Century Boy And Girl is the upcoming romantic comedy on MBC which takes up this premise and promises a warm look for the same. What I’m really digging is the fact that most of the characters grew up with each other and that gives hope for a fun camaraderie-filled vibe.

Science fiction is a genre that is seen few and far between when it comes to Korean dramas. But 2017 looks like a year where it is the new ‘time-travel’ (remember 2012?). We saw Circle talking about space and now we have Borg Mom which is about a robot. It will start airing this Friday on MBC and will be a weekly offering with two back to back episodes in the schedule. Continue reading →

It’s a fact that weekend dramas basically are a cavalcade of same characters, same situations, same relationships, same scale and same patterns. But there is a kind of comfort in the familiar and also they tend to be more warm and cheery in some cases rather than imposing annoying and makjang items on the viewers. MBC is bringing a new drama for Saturdays and Sundays this week, titled Man Who Sets the Table. The prime reason for me getting excited about it is Sooyoung, who I greatly adore Continue reading →

Medical dramas are something that elicit a yawn from me. They all look as if cut from the same cloth and very episodic, not to mention peppered with hospital politics (a must!) that is as annoying as hearing the sound of nails scratching a blackboard. Hence, it’s a good thing that Hospital Ship, the upcoming MBC medical drama, is at least adding something new to the stale genre. The drama tells about a group of Continue reading →

I’m not a huge fan of medical dramas (although I did watch Doctors which was a rare case, all for the leads!). They just are so episodic in the patient-of-the-week manner and even if I do like it, it becomes perfunctory act to watch the hospital politics scenes *yawn*. Hence, I’m not too excited for upcoming MBC show Hospital Ship. But it at least has some new colours to paint the tried and tested genre — we have doctors who provide medical care to remote islands where no or insufficient health services are present, by travelling through a hospital ship.
