(This review contains spoilers)

I’m not sure how to start this review. How to preface a post when you have a divided opinion about it. Is the ending everything? Or being great for the most part obliterates the sour taste that the culmination leaves? I don’t think we can see a show half and half. If you start something, it is the drama’s writer’s duty to end it in a satisfactory manner. Still I’ll try my best to jot down the pros as well as cons. Maybe this review will have a coherent end. The Korean movie is adapted from 1999 Japanese anime Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. It is set in the year 2029 in a hypothetical scenario where the North and South announce a five-year plan to reunite. As is the case with every big Continue reading →

The first thing that I noticed when I started Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food (also, Something In The Rain) was its look: subtle, washed with muted colours, soft. There is a distinct old school vibe in the execution. I’m glad the show maintained this to the end, albeit a few exceptions. It’s a drama that will surely make one swoon and also make one annoyed. And yes, it successfully transports us to a rainy, misty season, giving a ‘lazy, lying in bed and listening to radio’ feel which I really loved.

The first thing that one notices on starting new tvN drama Mr. Sunshine is its gorgeousness. The show is beautifully shot, each frame looks like a painting (think about the period portions of Goblin; only here the whole drama is washed with that loveliness.) The new show from star writer Kim Eun Sook with a cast of top names is also simultaneously airing on Netflix and I’m glad it has only one moniker unlike so many of its peers with multiple names.
