Korean movie The Beauty Inside came out in 2015 and starred Han Hyo Joo in a fantasy romance premise where her lover is a man who changes into a different person everyday, thus emphasizing the power of true love in that the heroine loves the man no matter what his outer appearance is. The movie was laced with many cameos by actors like Lee Bum Soo, Yoo Yeon Suk, Park Shin Hye, Park Seo Joon, Go Ah Sung etc. I didn’t watch it but I’m excited Continue reading →

Im Soo Hyang has mostly acted in weekend and daily dramas lately (Five Children, Blow Breeze, The Rose of Sharon Has Bloomed) but she will now be seen headlining a JTBC drama titled My ID Is Gangnam Beauty. The show is along the lines of ‘ugly duckling turns to swan’ dramas and films (200 Pounds Beauty, Sabrina, Birth Of A Beauty to name a few). Based on a 2016 webtoon, the Continue reading →

Yay! Jo Seung Woo is back! I love that the musical actor is doing more dramas these days after acting solely in movies for many years. I have yet to see his last drama Forest Of Secrets which captivated everyone last year. Its writer is reuniting with him for new JTBC show Life, which also stars Lee Dong Wook — his first drama since getting new jolt of popularity after superhit Goblin. The PD at the helm has previously directed dramas like Dear My Friends, Deserving Of The Name and remake of The Most Beautiful Goodbye In The World. All these good reasons were necessary for me to look forward to this drama as it is a medical show, a genre I find extremely boring. The first thing that I noticed when I started Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food (also, Something In The Rain) was its look: subtle, washed with muted colours, soft. There is a distinct old school vibe in the execution. I’m glad the show maintained this to the end, albeit a few exceptions. It’s a drama that will surely make one swoon and also make one annoyed. And yes, it successfully transports us to a rainy, misty season, giving a ‘lazy, lying in bed and listening to radio’ feel which I really loved.

I’m super excited for new JTBC thriller Sketch as it stars Rain and sounds intriguing too, having a supernatural angle. Rain was amazing in action drama Fugitive Plan B and it’s great to see him back in the genre where he plays a detective. He is reuniting with Lee Dong Gun after 15 years as they both starred in 2003 melo Sang Doo, Let’s Go To School (that also starred Gong Hyo Jin). So happy that a show is starring leading men from early 2000s!
