What do you expect and want from a K-drama in general? A swoony romance, a lovely couple that makes you giddy, or maybe some makjang and some melo. I was surprised to love Misaeng in spite of the fact that it is as far from these elements as possible. Set in a workplace and taking a story of salarymen, it is a heart warming ode to the common man who struggles each day to support his family and himself. Continue reading

Oh I love these stills from upcoming sageuk Shine Or Go Crazy (I still can’t wrap my brain around the fact that this is indeed name of a serious historical show!) which look so beautiful and surreal. SBS really made an impressive move last year with announcing that it will broadcast makjang-free weekend shows and has really stayed with its promise as it aired cute and light-hearted shows like Glorious Day (or Feel Good Day), Modern Farmer and Angel Eyes in the Saturday-Sunday slot alongside dramas with makjang elements like Endless Love. Sadly, the ratings were not as desired and I really hope that the network would not let this factor (a very huge one) to let it leave that much-appreciated policy. Same wish goes for the new weekend drama My Heart Twinkle Twinkle which is starting next week as Birth Of A Beauty wraps up this week. Continue reading
