MBC aired 50 episodes sageuk Empress Ki (2013-14) and that show was a huge success even if I skipped it, partly because of its length and partly because it was a sageuk which didn’t have enough interesting premise for me to make me watch it.The channel is bringing another epic sageuk this year with Hwajeong (or Splendid Politics) which contains a slew of acting talents with Cha Seung Won, Kim Jae Won, Lee Sung Min, Lee Yeon Hee and Seo Kang Joon in the lead roles. If you’ve read my posts for Marriage Not Dating, you must be knowing that I have a huge crush on Yeon Woo Jin. Right from the first frame when I saw him in that title track of the drama, I fell head over heels in love. Ha. And now I’m on cloud nine as he has been confirmed for upcoming rom-com weekender Divorce Lawyer In Love. The show is slated to follow The Family Is Coming and is likely to start airing in March. Well, another webtoon turned drama is here and it’s on the channel which brings most of these adaptations — tvN. I have loved its rom-coms a lot and I’ll happily welcome this new entrant. I liked Lee Dong Gun a lot as the sensible husband in one of the underrated but really good rom-coms Sweet 18 which starred Han Ji Hye opposite him. That made me excited for his comeback project Mi Rae’s Choice (2013) but I ended up dropping it, which turned out to be a great decision as the show left everyone angry and frustrated after its run. It was also sad for the cast as the show received very low ratings. Hence, I’m happy to report that he is starring in his next drama and better that the network is tvN, which keeps on churning out one quality project after another. In fact, most of my favourites from last year belonged to the cable channel. Continue reading
