Kudos to Shin Hye Sun for rising to leading lady roles after playing many cute/funny/annoying supporting roles for some years. I first noticed her in School 2013, then High School King Of Savvy, Oh My Ghost and She Was Pretty. It was her last drama My Golden Life (a weekender) that catapulted her to another level of popularity with huge success, where she was the main lead. Continue reading

Risky Romance is another medical drama premiering tomorrow, the other one being Life on JTBC. This one is a romantic comedy though and stars Ji Hyun Woo and Lee Si Young in the lead roles. I totally gave my heart to Ji Hyun Woo after watching him in Queen In Hyun’s Man but then his following projects didn’t interest me much (but Awl is surely on my plan-to-watch list). I have seen Lee Si Young only in her early supporting roles (Boys Before Flowers, Playful Kiss) but really adore her real life persona. Risky Romance is a nice departure from her last serious role in thriller Lookout last year. Continue reading

The PD at the helm has previously directed dramas like Dear My Friends, Deserving Of The Name and remake of The Most Beautiful Goodbye In The World. All these good reasons were necessary for me to look forward to this drama as it is a medical show, a genre I find extremely boring. The first thing that I noticed when I started Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food (also, Something In The Rain) was its look: subtle, washed with muted colours, soft. There is a distinct old school vibe in the execution. I’m glad the show maintained this to the end, albeit a few exceptions. It’s a drama that will surely make one swoon and also make one annoyed. And yes, it successfully transports us to a rainy, misty season, giving a ‘lazy, lying in bed and listening to radio’ feel which I really loved.
