Jang Dong Yoon had a breakout role in popular period drama The Tale Of Nokdu (his earlier shows include A Poem A Day, Mr. Sunshine and School 2017) and it’s refreshing to see him in a completely different role and genre with the following series Search. It is a mystery thriller about a special military crew which is sent to find out the truth about mysterious disappearances and deaths in the demilitarized zone (DMZ). Colour me intrigued. The deluge of dramas in October had left me in a quandary about which one to start and which one to postpone for a later watch. Well, I was intrigued by the premise of Tale Of The Nine Tailed as the fantasy genre with folklore and myths has always piqued my interest, so this drama is the one I decided to go for. After 2 episodes, I can say it was a good choice. Continue reading →

There can be plenty of reasons to check out a drama. To me, the writers play a very important role. If I have liked their past works, chances are I might want to watch their new drama too. The new tvN drama Start-Up interests me for that very reason. It is penned by Park Hye Ryun of shows like I Hear Your Voice, Pinocchio and Dream High. This is her third drama with Suzy as her last show While You Were Sleeping also starred her in the lead role. Continue reading →

More often than not, the sequels or prequels or season extensions tend to disappoint, or fail to meet the expectations of an acclaimed and beloved movie or TV show. Forest Of Secrets (aka Stranger for Netflix viewers) aired in 2017 and it was a tall order to match its stupendousness. But the second season proves to be an exception by taking the praiseworthy elements of its predecessor and being a worthy story in its own right. Continue reading →

Jung So Min is one of my favourite Korean actresses and I’m super excited with the news that she has signed on her next drama titled Monthly House — it will air on JTBC and costars Kim Ji Suk, who is always a great addition to any project, be it the main or supporting role. They both actually reunite in this show as they previously worked together in KBS drama special Came to Me and Became a Star back in 2013. They both had dramas this year, Jung So Min did Fix You and Kim Ji Suk did My Unfamiliar Family, both on my planlist. Continue reading →
