Not as many dramas are premiering in March as last month, but then I ended up watching only Vincenzo from that list (I did try Sisyphus: The Myth but dropped it after 4 episodes). So it’s not like long list equals more dramas. I see a lot of attractions this month, with genres ranging from thrillers-sci-fi to classic romcoms to period dramas. Here is the list! Jang Dong Yoon had a breakout role in popular period drama The Tale Of Nokdu (his earlier shows include A Poem A Day, Mr. Sunshine and School 2017) and it’s refreshing to see him in a completely different role and genre with the following series Search. It is a mystery thriller about a special military crew which is sent to find out the truth about mysterious disappearances and deaths in the demilitarized zone (DMZ). Colour me intrigued. Oh this drama looks so youthful, warm and fresh! It is called Dance Sports Girls and as the name suggests, it is a coming-of-age story about the girls of the dance sports club of Geoje Girl’s Vocational High School. Geoje is a coastal city in South Korea with a declining ship building industry. The setting is surely something new in dramaland. The protagonists are girls who are passionate about dancing and the drama will tell about them entering a dance competition. The show is based on an award-winning documentary of the same name. Full of laughs and full of warmth.
I really liked the subtle, soft and indie-like start of The Interest Of Love.
